The Prepar3D v5.2 Hotfix 1 (126.96.36.199615) is now available and can be downloaded immediately from the Purchased Downloads section of the website.
The Prepar3D v5.2 Hotfix 1 contains resolutions for high priority issues identified after the Prepar3D v5.2 release.
Only the Client installer is required for the majority of fixes present in Prepar3D v5.2 Hotfix 1. Therefore, the Content, Scenery, and SDK installers are optional. Each fix listed below is categorized per installer. Please note, you must first have Prepar3D v5 installed to utilize any of the standalone installers (Client, Content, and Scenery). The Prepar3D v5.2 Hotfix 1 update may require you to reactivate your product, however if you have an internet connection or have not made any major hardware changes between installations this should not be an issue. The newly posted Prepar3D v5.2 (188.8.131.52615) Full Download on the Purchased Downloads page includes Hotfix 1.
If Prepar3D was installed before updating to the hotfix it is strongly recommended to run the “Delete Generated Files” shortcut in Prepar3D’s installation directory after installing the hotfix and before running Prepar3D for the first time. This will revert Prepar3D to its default settings but may also impact the installation of add-ons. If running this is not possible due to add-on configurations then removing the VolumetricClouds.cfg in the “%appdata%\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v5” is strongly recommended due to changes to cloud appearances made in the hotfix.
Please be aware that some third party developers may have to update their add-ons to be compatible with this hotfix. Please contact the third party developers directly for any compatibility questions.

The conference and tradeshow is an all-ages event that welcomes simmers and pilots of all experience levels. The in-person event features a 30,000 square foot exhibit hall where attendees can try the latest in simulation technology, experience virtual reality, and win prizes in landing competitions and other contests. The event also hosts a series of seminars on flight simulation topics. This year’s presenter lineup includes experienced flight simmers, airline pilots, flight dispatchers, an NTSB accident investigator, and developers of flight simulation software and hardware.
Lockheed Martin will be in attendance to represent Prepar3D, a visual simulation platform that allows users to create training scenarios across aviation, maritime, and ground domains. Prepar3D has become the go-to platform for serious flight simmers and developers creating top-tier simulation add-on products. The Prepar3D team will be hosting a “questions and answers” session with in-person attendees at 3:15pm PDT on Saturday, September 25.
For those unable to physically attend, FlightSimExpo 2021 is offering an online registration for $15. This online registration includes exclusive access to event seminars and the ability to chat and engage with participating developers throughout the weekend. In partnership with the large online networks, virtual attendees will also be able to participate in a simulator fly-in to KSAN on Saturday alongside other online activities during the weekend.
Through FlightSimExpo, attendees can book hotel rooms for $150/night, including all taxes and fees. Airline discounts are available from Delta, Southwest, and WestJet. Attendees can save up to 30% on rental cars through Enterprise.
Prepar3D v5.2 brings a large number of features and improvements to the Prepar3D platform. Continual improvements have been made to the Enhanced Atmospherics system offering better visuals while reducing memory usage. Improved atmospheric lighting and shadows, better volumetric cloud generation and enhanced precipitation effects to further improve realism and training fidelity. Additional enhancements made to the DirectX 12 rendering system continue to improve performance and stability to enable support of even greater detail and scale in training scenarios. Light up the night sky with the addition of road lights and improved airport lighting. Developers have access to more tools including built-in support for viewing models and resetting various system states during program execution. Additionally multiple improvements have been made to DIS and CIGI making large scale training scenarios easier to configure, more robust and performant, and offering greater interoperability across various other systems.
The following list of updates has been categorized based on the installer required. The Client installer is required for Prepar3D v5.2, however the Content, Scenery, and SDK installers are optional. You must first have Prepar3D v5 installed to utilize the Client only installer.
To install the Prepar3D v5.2 Client, you must first uninstall the previous Prepar3D v5.0/v5.1 Client through Programs and Features in Windows Control Panel. Do not deactivate your license when prompted. If you selected to deactivate your license during uninstallation of your current Client, your will be prompted to reactivate Prepar3D.
